You must be in possession of a valid NUS card which will be used as proof of eligibility to enter the competition. Students are only allowed to enter for themselves and cannot enter for, or be entered by, family or friends.

If you are over 18 and meet the other criteria, all you have to do is complete your profile online and submit it along with a photo or photos and video. The Organiser reserves the right to edit all information supplied. Obscene text and/or photographs will not be allowed. Any entrant who uses obscene or abusive language or submits unsuitable photographs will be deleted instantly. All photographs supplied with the application must be within copyright guidelines as detailed in our terms and conditions.

After approval your profile will be displayed under the University you are attending along with your unique four digit Mr Student number. This is the number you will use throughout the competition and the number people need to vote for you.

Once you have your number and your profile is live, the rest is up to your powers of persuasion!!

All you have to do is to get as many people to vote for you as you can. The more votes you get the higher up the table you go.

University Heats: The first round of the competition is the University heats - all voting will be done by text. People can vote for you by texting STUDENT and your unique four digit number to 63333. (Texts cost 50p plus your normal text charge). Votes will be collected from the start of the competition until the last day of the first round of the competition December 31st 2007. The students with the most votes will be displayed in descending order and the top ten students have the opportunity to go through to the next round – The Regional Finals.

The “winning” students, from each University, will be notified by the 9th January 2008 by email. They will be the two STUDENTS with the most votes (the winner and runner up) plus one of the STUDENTS in the top ten who is judged* to be “a popular choice” by having received a combination of the most unique views/or hits and the highest number of unique texts.

If for any reason one of the “winning students” cannot attend the Regional Final the student in next position in the league will be invited to take their place.

*(All judging and verification of votes received will be done by an independent adjudicator – the judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into).

Regional Finals: The 3 ‘winning’ Students from each University will be entered into their Regional Final. The Regional Finals will be held in a local venue throughout February and March 2008 where all the competitors will compete for text votes on the night to win a place in the Grand Final.

Details of dates and venues for the 5 Regional Finals (North, South, East, West and Central) will be published on the website as soon as they are confirmed. Finalists will be given first option to purchase tickets for the evening before they go on general sale so they can invite as many supporters as they want.

The evening of the Regional Final will be split into two parts. Part One will see all competitors competing to find the 12 most popular students for Part Two. All contestants will be invited on stage and introduced to the audience. They will have the opportunity to try to entice the audience to vote for them by text. Voting will continue by text until Part Two.

Votes will be collected and results verified constantly to let everyone know who is leading. At the allotted time the text voting will be stopped and the 12 contestants with the most votes will go through to the Final Part (Part Two) of the contest. In Part Two the 12 contestants will be invited back on stage but this time they will be allowed to say a few words about themselves to try and capture the votes of our independent judges who will decide on the top 5 places. The winner and runner up along with the third, fourth and fifth placed students will qualify to compete in the Grand Final - to be held in April 2008.

Each Regional Final Winner will receive a fabulous Red Letter Day style Activity prize for themselves and a friend, and each Runner up will receive a prize of a VIP night out for 4 people. 3rd, 4th and 5th placed will receive £50 worth of vouchers. The prizes will be presented at the Grand Final in April.

If for any reason one of the “5 Qualifiers from the Regional Final ” cannot attend the Grand Final the student in next position will be invited to take their place, until there are 5 students from each region attending the Grand Final.

*(All judging and verification of votes received will be done by an independent adjudicator – the judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into).

The GRAND FINAL: The Winner, Runner up, Third, Fourth and Fifth from each Regional Final will be entered into the Grand Final, which will be held at a venue to be confirmed in April 2008. The likely location for the Grand Final will be Manchester, Birmingham, Leicester or London. The Final will be held in conjunction with the Miss Student Grand Final.
